Pricing and terms

How much does your truck dispatch service cost?

5% of gross for one truck with authority older than 6 months, 7% for new authorities, 26 ft box trucks and hotshots, and 4% per truck for fleets of two or more. The fee applies only to loads you haul, based on the gross on the rate con you signed. Pricing

Is there a setup fee or a contract?

No setup fee and no minimum. The agreement is month-to-month, and you can leave with 30 days notice. If you don't haul in a week, you don't pay that week. Loads already hauled before you leave are billed as normal on the final statement, and there's no exit fee. Pricing

How am I billed?

Weekly. Your statement lists each load you hauled, its gross and our fee, so every line can be checked against a rate con you signed. Extras like detention are added to a load's gross only once the broker approves them. How it works

Do you dispatch new authorities?

Yes. New authorities pay 7% until the MC is 6 months old. We look for brokers who work with new carriers and help you through broker setup, carrier packets and your first loads. Some brokers won't work with very new MCs, so we focus on the ones that do. New authority dispatch

What trucks do you dispatch?

Eleven types: dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, power only, 26 ft box truck, hotshot, car hauler, dump truck, oversize and hazmat or tanker. We don't dispatch box trucks under 26 ft, cargo vans or sprinter vans. One desk can run a mixed fleet of any of these. Dispatch services

Loads and booking

Do you book loads without asking me?

Never. We find and negotiate the load, then send you every detail: lane, rate, miles, weight, commodity, appointment times and extras. Nothing is booked until you say yes, and you can say no to any load without a penalty or a hit to how we treat you. How it works

Who receives the rate confirmation?

You do. When you say yes, the broker emails the rate confirmation straight to you, and you review and sign it yourself. That way you can check every term we negotiated, and the gross our fee is based on is the number you signed. How it works

Can I choose my lanes and home time?

Yes. Tell us your home base, the lanes you like and avoid, how long you want to be out and your floor rate. We plan loads around them, and when a week makes that hard we tell you early and let you choose. Owner-operator dispatch

How do you get better rates?

By countering weak offers with a reason, timing the search, planning reloads so fewer miles run empty, and getting detention, stop-off and lumper terms on the rate con. We can't control the market or promise income, but we work every load against your floor. Better rates

What happens if the board is dry?

We widen the search: different brokers, nearby markets, partials, a short reposition toward stronger freight. We tell you plainly what's out there and let you decide whether to wait, move or take a lower-paying load that sets up a better one. Can't find loads

Reefer and temperature

What do you check on reefer loads?

The setpoint and whether it matches the bill of lading, the unit mode, the pulp range you can accept at pickup, appointment times against your hours, detention and lumper terms, and any washout requirement. All of it is confirmed before the load reaches you. Reefer dispatch guide

Who is responsible for the reefer unit and cargo claims?

The carrier operates the reefer unit and usually owns cargo claims. We help you check the paperwork and document the load: setpoint on the bill of lading, pulp readings at pickup, photos and the unit download. Those records are what settle most disputes. Reefer dispatch

Do you dispatch reefer box trucks?

Yes, 26 ft reefer box trucks, on regional food service and grocery routes and partials. They're billed at 7% like dry 26 ft box trucks. We don't dispatch smaller reefer vans. The same reefer checks apply: setpoint, mode, pulp range and lumper terms on every load. Box truck dispatch

Do you follow produce seasons?

Yes. We plan reefer loops toward regions as they ramp up, such as Yuma in winter and Salinas in summer, and line up a paying load in before you head there. The season finder tool shows the windows we track. Produce season dispatch

Where can I check safe transport temperatures?

Our reefer temperature guide lists approximate lowest safe transport temperatures for common produce and frozen food, from university extension research. It's a check, not a setpoint: the setpoint on the bill of lading is the one you run. If the two disagree, ask the shipper before loading. Reefer temperature guide

Partials and LTL-size loads

Do you book partial loads?

Yes, for any trailer and for 26 ft box trucks. Pairing partials that fit together can fill a trailer and pay better than one full load on a weak lane. We check pallet counts, weights and stop order before offering them. Pallet and linear feet calculator

Do you give LTL quotes to shippers?

No. We dispatch carriers. We don't sell shipping, broker freight to shippers or quote LTL rates. If you're a carrier, our tools help you judge what a partial or LTL-size load pays for the space and weight it takes on your trailer. Freight class calculator

How do multi-stop loads get paid?

Linehaul plus stop pay for each extra stop, agreed on the rate con, with detention at each stop if it runs long. We ask for stop pay that matches the time stops take, and the multi-stop calculator shows what's fair for your target rate. Multi-stop calculator

Paperwork and compliance

What do you need to get started?

Your MC and USDOT numbers, certificate of insurance, W-9, truck and trailer details, home base, preferred lanes and floor rate. With those we can set you up with brokers. If you're leased on or still waiting on authority, tell us and we'll plan around it. Apply

Do I need a drug testing consortium?

If your truck needs a CDL and you run under your own authority, yes: you need a random testing pool, which one-truck carriers join through a consortium. Non-CDL 26 ft box trucks and non-CDL hotshots aren't in the DOT testing program. Drug testing consortium

Do you handle broker setup and check calls?

Yes. We fill in carrier packets, keep brokers updated with check calls, and chase paperwork so you can drive. You send the photos and times we ask for, like signed delivery receipts and in and out times, and we take care of the rest with the broker. How it works

Who handles detention claims?

We get detention terms on the rate con before you accept, and we submit detention to the broker after delivery using your signed in and out times. The detention calculator shows what a wait is worth on your terms, including free time, billing increments and caps. Detention calculator

Factoring

Do I have to use factoring?

No. Factoring is optional and never a condition of dispatch. If you want a quote, our form sends your details to RTS Financial. You can also keep your current factor or not factor at all. We may be paid for referrals, which we disclose. Dispatch and factoring

How does factoring work?

You sell an unpaid invoice to a factoring company, which advances most of it within about a day, collects from the broker and pays you the rest minus its fee. Brokers receive a notice of assignment telling them to pay the factor. How factoring works

Do you take your fee from my factoring money?

No. Your factor pays you. Our dispatch fee is billed to you separately on the weekly statement, so we never sit between you and your money. The broker pays your factor, your factor pays you, and we bill our fee on loads you hauled, line by line. Dispatch and factoring

How much does factoring cost?

It depends on the factor, your volume, your brokers' credit and the contract. Industry coverage puts typical costs at a few percent of each invoice. Compare quotes on your own invoices, extra fees included, with our factoring cost calculator. We refer carriers to RTS Financial and may be paid for referrals. Factoring rates
